No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and
love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve both God and Money.” – Matthew 6: 24
I found my devotion today interesting and a blessing which is why I have decided to share it with all of you.
Let us note that God did not say you cannot serve God and Satan. He
is wiser than that. He knew we could do better than that, can we? We fall short of the little temptations, the small compromises of the pleasures He blessed us with and then we fall off track. It’s the “Okay, I’ll buy it, today’s payday anyway”… Or the “Alright, let’s give-in, we’re truly in love, I’m sure…”
The apostle Paul tells us: “Am I now trying to win the approval
of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying
to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” – Galatians 1: 10
Going with the flow
with what ALL our other peers do and say may not necessarily be the
right way of doing things. In fact, sometimes you may be the weakest
link in your office/class but you have the strongest link to God. Think
about it. Our world has now gone far away from purity just compared to
our parents or grandparents.
Now, I hear you when you say this is not easy. And that’s definitely
true. But remember the things that we worked hard for bring the sweetest
gain and the things we waited long enough give the best satisfaction.
And what if you don’t get it still after all that? HOPE AND TRUST that
God knows what He’s doing. What you want may not be exactly what’s best,
what’s enough for you: He may have planned something better, something
more! BELIEVE IT.
THE PROBLEM OF JUST ONCE
As was already shared by Sean in ‘3 Compromising Mindsets from the Devil’, this is (if I may say) 1 incredible tactic by the Enemy.
It’s the little things that become grave! Don’t be fooled… Don’t be deceived.
Now I know in one time or the other we all have fallen. We missed the
mark. We fall short of the standard. But friends, we invite you to
dwell in the love of our Christ Jesus. God our Father knew we couldn’t
do it in His Perfect Way. That’s why Jesus had to take our place in the
cross, to die for your sins and mine: before, today and even that of
tomorrow.
Make that choice to step up and resist compromise today.
